Letters to the Editor: Grandmother worried about her grandchild’s safety

AN ABRONHILL resident has contacted the Cumbernauld Media news desk to talk of her worries regarding the North Lanarkshire Council proposals to amalgamate Abronhill and Cumbernauld High Schools.

As the consultation into the proposed rationalisation draws to a close ahead of the 20th November deadline, the resident contributed a letter to the news desk.

In her letter, a grandmother of an Abronhill High School student said: “I want to protest at the closing of Abronhill High School as it will be very bad for my grandson’s education; it is not a good time in his education and will disrupt his education at this crucial time.

The relative then went on to make her feelings known with regards to the route which her grandson will have to take if the rationalisation goes ahead next year.

“It is also a very dangerous walk through a glen which has a bad reputation for knife and drug related crimes. My daughter would have to send him on the bus which would be very costly for her at this time, but she would do so to keep him safe.”

If you have a letter you can contact the news desk through cumbernauld@centralscotlandmedia.net.
