Abronhill Guild to mark 125th anniversary of national organisation with late November celebrations

CUMBERNAULD’S Abronhill Church of Scotland Guild branch is to celebrate the organisation’s 125th anniversary.

With around 27,000 members, the Church of Scotland Guild is one of Scotland's largest voluntary organisations, and although women make up the bulk of the organisation’s membership, increasing numbers of men are becoming members and taking active roles at local and national levels.

Members meet in local groups at congregational level, in regional groups known as presbyterial councils, and once a year at a national meeting

Twenty-twelve marks the 125th anniversary of the Church of Scotland Guild and Cumbernauld’s Abronhill Guild branch is marking the momentous occasion with an evening of celebration to be held during Guild week on November 21st.

“We would like to extend a warm invitation to all past and present members of the Guild to join us for this celebration,” a branch spokesperson said.

“We look forward to seeing many past, present and future members of the Church of Scotland Guild in the Church hall at 8pm on Wednesday 21st November.”
