CUMBERNAULD’S Save Abronhill High School campaign have announced, after a bumper campaign day across all three Cumbernauld centres on Saturday, that they have immersed close to a staggering 4,000 signatures.

The total number of petitions signed stands at a whopping 3,692, putting more pressure on North Lanarkshire Council to scrap the proposals which would see Abronhill High School merge with Cumbernauld High School after the summer holidays next year.

Thanking all of those who showed their support for the campaign on Saturday, a Save Abronhill High School spokesperson said:  “We owe a huge thank you to everyone who helped at the town centre today for the letters and petition signing, especially Lianne.”

“There were thousands of signatures received, dozens of letters written, and the overall support from Cumbernauld's residents was amazing!

“It's very encouraging to hear we are all singing the same song. Don't take away anymore of Cumbernauld's schools!”
