Local MP prepares to walk over hot coals for charity

CUMBERNAULD, Kilsyth and Kirkintilloch East Labour MP Gregg McClymont will be putting his body through its paces as he prepares to walk over hot coals for Cancer Research UK.

The area’s MP announced his fundraiser details late last week, commenting, Gregg said: “I can’t honestly say I’m looking forward to my firewalk, but it’s all in the name of a good cause!”

The walk, which is to take place on November 30th at Tesco Craigmarloch, will consist of a pre-walk pep talk for Gregg to prepare him for the coals and then the walk itself.

The MP has assured the public that there will be no tricks involved, with Gregg walking barefoot on embers between 700 and 1100 degrees Fahrenheit.

“1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime and I hope to raise as much money as possible to support Cancer Research’s invaluable work in working towards preventing, controlling and curing cancer”, Gregg added.

“If you’d like to sponsor me, I have set up a JustGiving page at http://www.justgiving.com/Gregg-McClymont. Even the smallest contribution can make a difference to the work the charity is able to carry out.”
