CUMBERNAULD and Kilsyth’s SNP MSP, Jamie Hepburn has given his reaction to media reports that Clyde Football Club are considering relocating away from their current location at Broadwood stadium.

In a statement, Mr Hepburn said: “This is not the first time that Clyde moving from Cumbernauld has been discussed and I am well aware that the club has felt that it is not getting the best possible deal from the current set-up at Broadwood. It would be disappointing if the town lost its only senior football club, and I remain willing to do what I can to try to help Clyde stay and get in place arrangements that they are happy with to stay in the area.”

Jamie Hepburn added:“Of course there had previously been real concern expressed that if Clyde were to relocate it would leave Broadwood stadium as a white elephant. However, thanks to Scottish Government investment which has enabled the installation of a new state-of-the-art artificial pitch, and with Cumbernauld Colts Football Club moving in, the future of Broadwood as a vital local sporting facility is now secured.”
