CUMBERNAULD Colts Community Football Club have said that their new 3G pitch and supporting facilities will be formally handed over to the club.

Through the club’s Facebook page, a club spokesperson announced the soon-to-be hand over,” Our new fantastic 3g pitch and support facilities will be handed over later this week.”

The announcement comes after an initial announcement in March, last year, when the Cumbernauld Colts were awarded £400,000 from the Scottish Government’s CashBack for Communities Programme.

Welcoming the funding announcement, in March 2011, Stewart McKenzie, Chairman of Cumbernauld Colts FC said: “This is excellent news for Cumbernauld Colts, and a real tribute to the hard work put in by so many people at the club over the years. This builds on the good practice we have adopted as a club and the fact that we have previously been awarded an SFA quality mark community award.

“The funding will allow us to develop a brand new facility that will allow the club to take our activities to the next level.

“It’s great to see funds which have been seized from criminals put to such good use and for community benefit.”

The Scottish Government’s Cashback for Communities Programme redistributes cash seized from criminals back into community initiatives across the country. Since 2007, nearly £40million of funding has been invested into a variety of projects.
