Cumbernauld Environmental Society gear up ahead of tomorrow's judging

CUMBERNAULD Environmental Society is gearing up ahead of tomorrow (Friday), a day which will see the judges from Beautiful Scotland descend upon Cumbernauld.

They will arrive in Cumbernauld at approximately 10am and on a very tight schedule they will proceed to inspect areas of Cumbernauld; from the House Park to Kildrum’s YMCA/ YWCA.

The Beautiful Scotland campaign is run by Keep Scotland Beautiful and this week their judges have descended upon North Lanarkshire to evaluate the environment and community participation in protecting the environment in numerous North Lanarkshire towns.

North Lanarkshire Council have since wished all towns, participating in this year’s competition, the best of luck.

A North Lanarkshire Council spokesperson said: “We [North Lanarkshire Council] just want to wish all the entrants in this year's Beautiful North Lanarkshire campaign the very best of luck, as the judges from Keep Scotland Beautiful make their way around your towns.

“Very many thanks to you all for your hard work and dedication, without you there is no campaign and you've made a huge difference not only to your local area, but to the whole of North Lanarkshire.

“You're a credit to your communities.”

When the judges evaluate communities, to decide upon the winners, ahead of the Motherwell September award ceremony, they will look at Cumbernauld’s horticultural achievement, Cumbernauld’s sustainable development and biodiversity initiatives, the environmental quality of Cumbernauld and the level of community involvement.
