Cumbernauld's take on an Abronhill Train Station

Earlier this week, Cumbernauld Media published the story of how Cumbernauld and Kilsyth’s SNP MSP, Jamie Hepburn, welcomed the news that North Lanarkshire Council now support the idea of an Abronhill Train Station.

Following on from the story’s break, we took to our Facebook and Twitter pages, asking our fans: ‘Does Abronhill need a station, will anything ever come of it or is the argument a dud?’

Sandra said: “I hope this goes through as it would be the best thing for Abronhill. At the moment we need to get a bus to Cumbernauld High and walk to the train station, or the bus is every hour so this would make life easy for all us in Abronhill.”

Paul Cochrane said: “If I lived in Abronhill, I'd rather they improved the bus service than built a train station. The train is too expensive, I don't know why anyone would take the train.”

Donald Scott added: “Cheap express bus services introduced in the late 90's together with upgrades to the road network have killed all hope of a station in the area. It would be poorly used and there are far better candidates for a station on the route.”
