Lions bring home the bronze, silver and gold

The Tryst Lions Wrestling Club have a few more medals to put in their cabinet as new the club’s new, younger generation, bring home the precious metals.

At the British Novice Championship, held at the Thornaby Pavilion, in Stockton, on Saturday, 16th June,  a number of young ‘Lions’ competed for the Lions and as a result,  a variety of medals were racked up.

Ciaran Keelan came home with the silver, Ruban Gray and Shaun McDonald returned to Cumbernauld with the bronze whilst Ewan McCormack and Joe McCluskey placed 4th. Meanwhile, Cameron McKay claimed silver medal in the senior category.

Commenting, Coaches David Connelly and Steven McKeown, who accompanied the squad said: “I am extremely proud of them all.”

The Lions’s success didn’t end at the British Novice Championship, however, as the club went on to compete at the English Junior Championships, in Bolton, where Taylor McCann and Ross Connelly triumphed to win gold, whilst Lee McKeown took a respectable 4th place.
