Oxfam’s autumn music festival is coming to Cumbernauld, this October, with a number of shows on offer in aid of Oxfam.

Oxjam, which is Oxfam’s month-long music festival, runs all through October with hundreds of events all over the UK, all organised by people who know and love their local music scene.

Raising more than £1.5 million - enough to buy 13’000 emergency shelters, 60’000 goats or 900 classrooms - for Oxfam since it launched in 2006, Oxjam has saw more than 40’000 musicians play to over 800’000 people, at nearly 3’000 events.

Now, it’s Cumbernauld’s turn to host the event, which will be run entirely by volunteers.

All of the events held as part of the festival will be ticketed, with all proceeds going towards Oxfam.

Plans already indicate that events held in the run up to the main show will be held in Cumbernauld’s Link Centre, however, times and dates are still to be organised.

Smaller events confirmed so far include events at the Royal British Legion, on the 6th October, Condorrat Social Club, on the 12th of October, Jack Snipe on the 13th of October and Burroughs Social Club on the 18th of October.

Cumbernauld’s main Oxjam event will be held at Cumbernauld’s Link Centre, on October 27th, between 10am and 10pm. The main event will host a variety of events, with live bands , dance acts , stalls , a cafe and lots more.

David Cooke, Oxjam Cumbernauld Events Manager has put out an appeal asking that any bands, dance groups or people, who want to volunteer, get in contact through the event’s official Facebook page, at
